Established in 2014 and made up of influential women from Quebec, CECI’s Club des ambassadrices is on a mission to strengthen women’s entrepreneurship in countries targeted by the CECI, which has been helping to fight poverty and exclusion around the world for 60 years.
Through its fundraising and mentorship activities, the Club des ambassadrices encourages women’s economic development worldwide and promotes gender equality, more particularly in Haiti, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali, Guinea, the African Great Lakes Region, Guatemala, El Salvador, Bolivia, and Nepal.
The project goal is to increase women’s economic power by promoting the value of nationally produced rice through parboiling and the strengthening of parboiler organizations, so that they may become profitable, professional, and recognized businesses within the rice industry.
Our wish is to see businesses that promote the value of local rice contribute to the improvement of the socio-economic living conditions conditions of rural women in the Hauts-Bassins, Cascades, and Boucle du Mouhoun regions. Mainly young women and female heads of households, these rice parboilers truly hold the purse strings.
