STAGED READING OF SOLIDARITY

Lest we forget the plight of the people of Haiti, the Festival TransAmériques is presenting a festive event of solidarity. Five months to the day after the terrible earthquake in Haiti, audiences are invited to come to Amour, colère et folie, a staged reading of the celebrated novel by Haitian writer Marie Vieux-Chauvet.

Adapted for the stage by playwright José Pliya, the novel by Marie Vieux-Chauvet is conveyed onstage in three separate monologues: Amour, Colère, Folie. Directed respectively by Brigitte Haentjens, Denis Marleau and Martin Faucher, actresses Magali Comeau-Denis (travelling especially from Port-au-Prince), Christiane Pasquier and Pol Pelletier present key moments of this powerful novel with warmth and passion.

All funds raised during this event, including Admission network service charges, will be donated to CECI (Centre for International Studies and Cooperation). Usine C is providing the theatre at no cost, and all the artists involved in this project are offering their services free of charge.

« La voix claire et pure de cette romancière lucide et indomptable refait surface. Une dernière chance pour entendre son chant. »

Dany Laferrière, La Presse, 2005
