The CECI contributes to the electrification of the city of Bahon in Haiti
Along with its partners, the World Bank and the Office of Monetization of Development Assistance Programs (BMPAD) – among others –, the CECI has inaugurated three subprojects under the Project of Transportation and of Territorial Development (PTDT) in the Nord Department, on May 19 and 20, 2011.
These subprojects are the electrification of the city of Bahon, the rehabilitation of the pottery workshop in Milot, and the construction of an agricultural market in Saint-Raphael. These will promote economic activities through the strenghtening of certain existing activities and the emergence of new initiatives that will generate income. They will contribute as well to the improvement of the living and working conditions of the inhabitants.
In the intervention areas of the CECI, the PTDT includes fives communes of Saint-Raphael, of Dondon, of Grande Rivière du Nord, of Bahon and Milot, and it covers an area of 580 square-kilometres. To manage the funds of infrastructure subprojects, the PTDT has received US$1,070,000 in financing.
Started in 2007, the PTDT supports the Haitian state in its pursuit of economic growth, by removing any transportation or marketing impediment that prevents the mobilization of the productive potential in rural areas.
