Uniterra in solidarity with Vues d’Afrique!
The Uniterra program is proud to be a partner of the 27th annual Festival International de Cinéma Vues d’Afrique, a film festival celebrating the richness of Africa’s dynamic culture and history – April 29 to May 8 in Montreal and Québec City.
The Uniterra program will take advantage of this spotlight on African culture to present concrete examples of solidarity between Africa and Canada. Audiences will also have the opportunity to participate in panel discussions on the return of the children of the African diaspora in the context of international solidarity.
The panel discussions will follow these screening : “Notre étrangère”, French-Burkinan production by Sarah Bouyain presented at
- the Musée de la civilisation in Québec City, Tuesday May 3 at 7:30pm
- and at Gesù in Montréal, Thursday May 5 at 8:30pm
Through Uniterra, the International cooperation program of CECI and WUSC, nearly 200 Canadian volunteers go to Africa each year: to Botswana, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Guinea, Malawi, Mali, and Senegal. A growing number of these volunteers are native to their destination countries, and have chosen to make a difference through a program that prioritizes respect for traditional cultures.
