Diane Bachand

Diane Bachand holds a bachelor’s degree in social work and has 23 years of experience in international development. She specializes in the gender equality approach.

Since 1985 she has acted as a consultant on numerous projects and programs relating to gender equality and women’s empowerment issues. She has acquired strong capacity building experience in two areas: organizational consensus building and networking processes, and gender equality.

Ms. Bachand has proficiency with integration of the gender equality approach at every stage of the development and training project management cycle, making the linkages between international cooperation, intercultural approaches, and gender equality.

In the last five years, Ms. Bachand has put her expertise to work for the Uniterra program, one of Canada’s largest volunteer cooperation programs. She is responsible for supervising the application and monitoring of the gender equality strategy in the 14 countries of the program.

Ms. Bachand has been a member of CECI’s Gender Equality Committee since 1997, and is a member of the team responsible for the strategic objective relating to gender equality. For several years now, she has been sitting on the board of directors of the Québec Action Network for Women’s Health.
