Gérard Côté
Throughout his career in international development, which he began in the Kongoussi region of Burkina Faso, Gérard Côté has been a fervent partisan of the participatory approach and of empowering partnerships.
He worked as a field facilitator (1982–84), in trainer training (1985–89) and as a designer of methods (1985–2007) adapted to on-the-ground realities.
In this latter position, he contributed to the assessment of methods, tools, and approaches, proposed correctives, and trained the project staff of the partner organizations. He also performed organizational and institutional diagnoses and developed a self-diagnostic methodology that led him to implement a human resources training and turnaround plan for Rwanda in 2006.
In addition, Mr. Côté has worked on analysis of the role and place of women in development organizations and in organizations operating in various sectors of society.
