Louise Camiré

In addition to earning a master’s degree in project management, Louise Camiré has acquired over 25 years of experience in international cooperation, primarily in the fields of women’s rights and gender equality, non-formal education, local development, and food security.

Since 1983, she has been associated with several projects relating to gender equality and women’s empowerment. She has developed extensive experience in the design, planning, implementation, and management of this type of project.

Her initial experience in international cooperation involved helping to set up a women’s crafts cooperative in Ouagadougou. Subsequently, she worked for Développement International Desjardins and SOCODEVI on the planning of numerous projects designed to further women’s integration into development processes. With the latter organization in particular, she was involved for three years in the planning, implementation, and management of two projects involving women’s access to credit in Côte d’Ivoire and Togo.

At CECI (1997–2000), Ms. Camiré worked on the implementation of the “Women’s Rights and Empowerment” project in Senegal. Since 2007 she has been in charge of coordinating the planning and implementation of the Mali Gender Equality Project, which aims to strengthen gender equality in the areas of health, law, and governance. The project provides major support at all stages of the drafting process for the country’s national gender equality policy.

Ms. Camiré is likewise responsible for the planning and implementation of the “Women and Food Security” project in Niger (2009–2013), for indeed, women’s empowerment is a central pillar of food security.
