Ghana’s youth constitutes almost 20% of the overall population. Over 5 million people are between 15-24 years old, which represents a great potential for the country. But many of them are facing challenges in entering the labour market, resulting in a high youth unemployment rate at 70%. Ghana has been experiencing significant growth, 6.3% in 2018, but at the same time, income inequality is increasing, with youth being particularly left behind.

Between 2015 and 2020, WUSC worked with local partners to improve economic and employment opportunities for women and youth in the construction and agricultural sectors in Ghana. As a facilitator, WUSC prides itself in the platforms it has supported to enable collaborations among stakeholders and hence, create more structured and high-quality opportunities for women and youth.

Here are stories that illustrate some of the achievements of the Uniterra Program in Ghana.
